Our mission
Arbutus Grove Children’s Centre’s mission is to support and enhance each child’s physical, social, emotional, creative, and intellectual growth through play-oriented learning.
Our Centre
Arbutus Grove Children’s Centre has a long history of providing outstanding childcare programs to the Victoria community.
We previously operated as Goosey Gander Preschool for forty-six years before moving to our new 1.4 acre site in September, 2004.
We operate three programs(Early Years program, Nature program, School Age program) for children 3 years old up to Grade 5.
Gallery
Take a tour of our childcare rooms with a gallery of our beautiful outdoor play areas and our unique indoor themed class rooms.
Each area promotes discovery and learning through a variety of activities to let little imaginations grow and discover.
Our Philosophy
Self-directed play promotes growth and development in ways that cannot be achieved through the traditional approach of teaching pre-academic skills. Arbutus Grove Children’s Centre provides a fun early learning environment that promotes play-oriented learning programs.
Learning is enhanced by the expertise and collaboration of our educators who provide developmentally appropriate activities that nurture each child’s natural curiosity. Our program recognizes the diversity of our children and seeks to meet the individual needs of each child’s unique development level and learning style.
We acknowledge and respect the lək̓ʷəŋən peoples on whose traditional territory the Arbutus Grove Children’s Centre stands, and the Songhees, Esquimalt and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples whose historical relationships with the land continue to this day. We extend our gratitude for the opportunity to live and learn on this territory.
